Vijay Deverakonda became a star when his Telugu film Arjun Reddy became a blockbuster hit across the country. The film, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is being remade in Hindi as Kabir Singh, which stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
Ever since the Hindi remake was announced, comparisons between Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh have been making headlines every now and then. From the posters to the trailer, everything about Kabir Singh resembles Arjun Reddy, indicating that it is a faithful remake of the latter by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who directed the original as well. In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, Vijay Deverakonda opened up about what he expects from Kabir Singh. The actor, who is currently shooting in France, said that he is eager to return to the country to catch the remake in theatres. Knowing Sandeep, he has probably altered the original script - amazing as it was - to begin on an exciting, new note.

About comparisons between Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, Deverakonda said, "My dear friend Sandeep, who directed me in Arjun Reddy, is now done with his Hindi remake, and I can't wait to see how it has turned out
Shahid Kapoor had to undergo a drastic physical transformation to play a college student in the film. Elaborating more about his physical transformation, Shahid told Mid-Day, "The team decided to first shoot the portions that saw me out of shape. The character goes through an emotional phase; he is self-destructive and doesn't care about how he looks. Actors are used to [looking] their best, at all times. But, here, I had to look as disinterested as I could about the way I appeared. Hence, we took the decision to grow the hair and beard. Then this decision was successful applied. took about two-and-a-half months to grow out, and during this phase, I worked with my trainer Samir Jaura on drafting a plan and achieving the [hefty] look. If you sit down and make a plan, there's a smart way of [gaining weight]."
